REMER SOO LINE DEPOT
A Piece of History Preserved
Starting approximately 10 years ago a group of people with a vision of what the Soo Line Depot could be, saved the building from being demolished. Part of the Remer Landscape for 100 years, a portion of that history is preserved in one area of the Depot that retains the hardwood oak flooring installed during the original construction of the Depot and the museum dedicated to the early days of Remer.
The Depot has a large conference room seating approximately 40 people and is ideal for holding most any type of gathering. At this time, the policy of the Depot Committee is to not charge for meetings of non-profit organizations. For private use, the fees are $60/day for private parties and $50/day for Government Entities. Donations are greatly appreciated. And monthly rental rates are also available.
There are two Public Restrooms opened from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. for the convenience of travelers and people using the Soo Line Trail. During part of the year the Chamber plans on keeping the Depot open on weekends.
The Remer Area Chamber of Commerce encourages the community to take advantage of this resource and when possible, volunteer a bit of time each month to ensure the Depot continues to be an asset to our community. We are always looking for people to staff the Information Center on the weekends.
If you are interested in reserving the facilities, volunteering, or to lend and/or donate artifacts or photographs to the Remer Depot, contact the Remer Chamber Office at (218) 566-1680.
If you are interested in the History of Remer you may purchase Cecelia McKeig’s book entitled “The History of Remer” which covers the early 1910′s thru 1960′s.
