2011 Remer Centennial
Please join us as our community comes together to celebrate this milestone event.
CENTENNIAL EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
Centennial Calendar- A wonderful 16 month calendar displaying historic old photos of Remer’s past. Covers September 2011 thru December 2012. This will make a fabulous Centennial keepsake. We hope to have them ready by June of 2011.
Centennial Cookbook- A book of recipes from wonderful cooks of our community past and present. Everyone is sure to enjoy the bits of history throughout. Plans are to have this cookbook available for sale as soon as completed.
Time Capsule- A collection of memorabilia pertinent to our community in 2011 will be preserved for a future generation to open. The time capsule will be placed in a specially made case to be prominently displayed. More details will follow on the Capsule closing ceremony.
Centennial Banners- Remer city has placed new light pole banners throughout downtown commemorating the Centennial. In three distinct themes: Train, Eagle and Nature, this aesthetic enhancement shows our community pride to travelers through the village.
History Crawl- Saturday, June 18th, 10am-3pm. Events planned at the Depot include a Logging demonstration, food, historical information and more. Then take a stroll downtown to learn about the early days of Remer Village and surrounding area. This should be a fun and informative day for young and old alike!
Community Play- Made possible through a partnership grant awarded to the Northland Family Center and Screenporch Productions. A full production of an original play about the early days of an up-north community, with musical themes, performed by and for community members in the Northland area. Performance in Remer on Friday, July 29th, and as always, it’s free to the public!
Harvest Festival- August 12 & 13. Remer’s annual two-day festival will have special Centennial surprises for the whole family! How about an old fashioned horse-drawn carriage ride?
